Case study · ArthaMatrix
Financial statements that finish themselves.
For two practising Chartered Accountants building a fintech venture, BLG built ArthaMatrix from scratch — a financial-statement automation product for Non-Corporate Entities and LLPs, and the entire launch platform that sells it.

The challenge
Professional judgment, lost to formatting work.
CA firms preparing financial statements for NCEs and LLPs rely on manual, Excel-heavy workflows — a segment underserved by accounting software built around corporate Schedule III formats rather than the ICAI Guidance Note requirements that actually govern this reporting.
The founders’ thesis: this is review work being lost to re-keying work — and it can be automated without giving up the sign-off discipline a CA firm needs.
The traditional closing cycle
- Hours lost per engagement pulling and re-formatting Tally data into Excel
- Ledger-to-schedule mapping hand-keyed, redone every single year
- Fragile spreadsheet formulas hiding silent calculation errors
- Debtor/creditor ageing built ad-hoc — ~3 hours per client
- Senior-staff dependency capping how fast the firm can scale
What we built
From Tally trial balance to signed, audit-ready financials.
Mapping
Imports Tally ledgers and classifies them with AI against ICAI Guidance Note groupings — 47 ledgers in about 4 seconds. Mappings are remembered firm-wide, year over year.
Reports
A live exception scanner surfacing opening-balance variances, reverse balances, dormant ledgers, and negative cash or stock — 12+ built-in checks before finalisation.
Financials
Generates the full Balance Sheet and P&L with comparatives, regrouping, and rounding handled automatically — in the ICAI-prescribed NCE/LLP presentation.
Ratios
10+ liquidity, leverage, and efficiency ratios computed straight from the financials, with automatic red-flag thresholds.
Ageing
Debtor and creditor ageing computed directly from ledger vouchers — specific-first or pure FIFO basis — with MSME and overdue red-flag detection.
Roles
An Article → Manager → Partner review-and-sign workflow, with tamper-evident locking once financials are marked reviewed.
Data stays with the firm: client data lives locally on the user’s machine, not in the cloud. For AI-assisted mapping, only the ledger name and its Tally group leave the system — no other financial data.
Beyond the product
The launch platform, end to end.
A product needs a front door. BLG built the complete go-to-market machine — from first visit through demo booking to paid licence and automatic installer delivery.
- Marketing site — fast, framework-free, with live product demos per module
- Checkout wired to Razorpay for licence payment, driven by a live pricing API
- Demo-booking and download flows backed by ArthaMatrix's own lead APIs
- Versioned installer delivery, triggered automatically after purchase
- GA4 plus a lightweight custom analytics layer
- Containerised staging and production deployments (Nginx + Docker)
The outcome
A venture launched, not just software shipped.
